Our business is personal.
We’ve always found big financial corporations a bit, well… ‘big’ when it comes to giving truly personalised financial advice. And although we’re relatively small by comparison, we’re highly specialised, offering a dedicated level of personal service that’s quite unusual in our sector.
I’ve worked in the insurance industry for most of my life, following in the footsteps of my father, uncle and grandfather. I’m also very proud to now have my daughter working with me– representing the fourth generation of our insurance family.
Our clients are everything to us. And just as each is a unique human being with their own hopes, dreams, circumstances and goals – so is our approach.

Insurance is in my DNA. That’s because I’m following in the footsteps of my uncle, father and grandfather!
I have worked hard for my clients over the many years I have been in the industry, and actually still have most of them, something that I am extremely proud of. Plenty of time in the seat means that I know insurance, stay on top of the changing industry regulations and work closely with insurers to learn about their products and develop great relationships with their senior underwriters.
After many years in the business, what continues to excite me is the opportunity to create insurance solutions for my clients that fit like a well-tailored suit. Our clients are some of the most interesting people I know, so catching up regularly with them is always a pleasure, but it also allows insight into how their lives have changed. Life is full of highs, lows and bumps in the road and I really enjoy helping my clients ensure their insurance requirements are fit for their moment in life's journey.

When I am not working, family and keeping fit are my priority. I have enjoyed boxing for ten plus years now at the Wreck Room.
In the weekends, you will often find me hovering around anything with an engine, I am unashamedly a self-proclaimed petrol head and enjoy maintaining my small car collection, riding my Harley or racing my 68 Monaro in the historic muscle car series.

Life cover isn’t so much about money – it’s about protecting the life you worked so hard to create. In a nutshell, it makes sure your loved ones are protected, big debts such as mortgages can be paid off, and a decent income can be provided for your family in future if you die.

Trauma Cover pays out a lump sum to help you get through around 50 different serious illnesses or injuries (such as cancer, heart attack or stroke). Some clients chose to reduce debt or take time off work, while others may use it to fund medical treatment and to afford non pharmac approved drugs for cancer treatments, for example.

Total and permanent disablement cover
This is good cover if an accident or illness means you’re unable to ever work again. It pays a tax-free lump sum that could help repay debts, allowing for modifications to be made to your home, or cover expensive ongoing care or medical treatments.

Luke Brimblecombe
Practice Manager
I aim to bring empathy and knowledge to every interaction with our clients.
After a few years of working for a general insurance company, I found my true calling in personal insurance while I was a customer service consultant for AMP. Brett asked me to come work for him after noting my strong communication skills when it came to looking after life insurance customers.
Most of my time outside of work goes into creative projects, whether it’s music, gaming and online content creation, or creative writing—but I do like to balance it all out with plenty of walking down at the local nature reserve and regular sessions at the gym.
Alongside the office admin tasks, I’m also passionate about my role as compliance officer, and keen to make sure that we not only comply with industry regulations as a business, but always do right by the customer.

I am Brett’s fiancé and joined the business last year to help with the transition from paper to digital files. After completing that process, plus organising the office, I now assist in administration tasks and help out where ever I am needed.
I am originally from Canada and emigrated to New Zealand in 2008. I had a 30 year career in dental hygiene but during the process of building our home, I started a new path in interior design. I now have my own interior design business which also incorporates home organisation.
I have 2 boys, Cameron is 20 & Curtis is 17 plus a large extended Pearce family.
I love healthy eating, working out and walks on the beach. Brett & I love to travel and have new experiences together.

As an accounts administrator, it’s my job to make sure I look after the detail, make our processes simpler and smarter, and make sure the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed!
I have one boy (12 going on 20!) and I love the outdoors in summer (not so much in Winter though!) I do love travelling when I can, although the past year has been pretty tricky for that. I love to eat but always feel like I’m forever on a diet.

Alexis is an 11-time women’s boxing national champion with 16 years of experience in the ring. While competing at the highest level for her club and Country, Alexis completed 2 university degrees and worked as a physiotherapist throughout her boxing journey. Alexis is now a Mental skills and Performance Coach - www.rebuildwithlex.co.nz.
In 2012, for the first time in the 116-year history of the modern Olympic Games, women’s boxing was included in the London programme. Alexis went to the Olympics and fought well in her lightweight division (56-60kg), winning her first fight and coming 5th overall. A competitor at the 2014 and 2018 Commonwealth Games (where she won Bronze), Alexis has had 143 fights over her career.

Naturally, you’ll want to trust us with your personal information, so we take your privacy and security very seriously. We’ll only ask you for the information we need to provide financial advice to help you protect you and your family’s wealth. Don’t forget, you can request access to your personal information at any time by getting in touch. All information collected will be subject to our privacy policy that is in line with requirements of the Privacy Act 2020.
Our Fees
We don’t charge fees directly to our clients. Instead, we are remunerated directly by the insurance provider with:
An initial commission – a percentage of the value of your insurance premiums (when a policy is accepted). These could range from 0-240%.
An ongoing commission – a percentage of the value of your premiums, paid annually and usually calculated on the renewal of insurance products. These could range from 0-20%.
Conflicts of interest or other incentives
Based on all the information you give us at the time, we’ll make sure we find the most suitable insurance option for you.
That's why we have our Six Step Financial Advice Process in place – to choose the provider that’s best for you, using an independent product research tool called Strategy Life. This allows us to compare the wordings, terms and conditions of the products that we’re offering to make sure you have access to top-quality insurance products, which in turn will give you consistent results come claim time.
We will only be remunerated if you choose a product or service that we recommend and when it is accepted by the insurer.
Complaints Process
Happy clients are the lifeblood of our business. So, if you have a problem, concern or complaint about any part of our advice or services, please let us know and we’ll help fix the problem right away. Luke Brimblecombe is our dedicated complaints officer, and you can contact him directly at luke@bpfs.co.nz or on (09) 529 1912 and he’ll get back to you within 24 hours.
We will make enquiries and investigate your complaint. We will keep you updated throughout the process and we will work hard to find a resolution that you are satisfied with.
If we’re unable to reach a resolution you’re happy with, you can refer your complaint to the Insurance & Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO). This is our external disputes resolution scheme.
